Four years in Shebenik

Shebenik was where we built the first organised astrotourism format in Albania, over four years of nights under the stars.

For four years, Shebenik was the place where we built and developed the experiences that later became Star Campers Albania. We are proud that we created the first organised format for astrotourism in Albania, giving people another way to get to know the area: through nights in nature, sky observation, walks and encounters with local hospitality.

This promotion did not come from a single event. Behind it are years of fieldwork, investments in equipment and collaborations with the people of the area. Interest kept growing, our experiences involved thousands of visitors, and images from the Shebenik activities were published by Reuters, BBC and other international media. From Shebenik, the initiative later spread to Përmet, along the Via Egnatia, to Prespa e Madhe and to other destinations in Albania.

This path is one of the reasons PERSEID was born: to turn the experience we gained into broader work for tourism, the environment, education and communities.
